They've been using the Cylon design language for a couple of years. It's starting to filter down to the Toyotas, too. The best thing I can say about it is it's less ugly than Acura's design language.

Interesting state of affairs when the car I would want to be seen in is a Kia Optima. Hat's off to them for sniping Audi's lead designer.

Acura design certainly perplexed me with the refresh.

The spindle grille looks really good on the IS 350F in Black as you can see a pic of mine below. I used to hate the grille but it has grown on me especially since the car drives incredibly well with a nice sporty edge while still being very plush and comfortable.

As for Acura. The last really good looking car they made was my 2007 TL Type S (see attached). I really miss that car and I miss that Acura. If only Acura would have updated this chassis a bit, offered it as rear wheel drive and slapped a turbo on it, I would have never switched to Lexus.

I'm a moderator on Clublexus.com and there are few discussions on this car. Most are split on the front, they either like the big grill or they don't.

The one thing most of the forum members agree about the newer model ES is the upgrades to the interior.

Lexus is finally getting out of its boring era. Which in turn will turn away the old foogies due to the sharper new designs. When was the last time anyone turned their neck for a lexus? now its more common. I am happy for them.
Acura has progressively been getting worse since the TLS posted above. Love that generation.
Nothing out of the ordinary to have an ugly gen every so often.
