I am not sure what is major difference between their performance. I and looking at Def Tech's, but noticed that Mythos have 3 models like the older 7000 series with similiar pricing.

What is the difference between these series.

How would the Mythos series perform with HT room that is 36 X 16 with a Pioneer VSX 1018 receiver compared to the 7002 or 7004 Def TEchs?

Thanks!!

Both are very good! The 7000 series are bipolar and there are back facing speakers that reflect sound of the wall. It gives the presence of the sound being all around you and puts you in the middle. It is soo realistic sometimes when watch TV or DVD I will ook around to see the front to try and see where the sound is coming from thinking it is another source than the HT system

The Mythos are more modern looking speakers and are not bipolar. I haven't heard them for comparison.

I think eaither would work very well in you HT theater room. 7002s in may case seem to work best about 2-3 feet from the front wall.

Your best bet ,if you can do it, would be to audition both the Mythos and the 7000 series speakers in a HT store.

Good Luck!

The Mythos have had very positive reviews and I don't think you can go wrong with either. Personally, I really like bipolar speakers for HT. If possible, listen to both before you make a decision.

I think the Bi-polar would be better for home theater use, and the Mythos line would be better for stereo listening, or for those that don't care for the bipolar sound. Both would suit you well, it's also a matter of which ones you think look better. I really like the look of the Mythos speakers.
