What is a "good Price" for paradigm monitor 9

I just bought a new receiver [Marantz sr6003] and as such I want to upgrade my speaker setup. I am starting with my front and center channel. Currently I have cerwin vega LS-12 front speakers and a cerwin vega VE-5c center channel.

I have been doing some listening and I like the Paradigm Monitor 9's, and can get them for $899.00 a pair - I have been unable to find a recent msrp to compare this to, or other pricing to see if this is a reasonable deal or not. - maybe I'm a bad searcher.

For my center I'm looking at either the cc-290 or cc-390. I can get the cc-290 for $299.00, but again I don't know if that is a descent price...

Any thoughts?

Are they the Monitor 9 V6? Thats a normal price. I see them for 950 a pair so you are doing ok.......As long as your fronts match voice wise to your center get whichever one you like best.........

If those are v6 and $899 is retail price, I'll bet you could get them for $800 or even $775, if you make that offer. $775 is a bit less than 15% off which is a reasonable discount.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

That sounds like a damn good price for a CC-290. Is this for a V5 or V6? Local dealer? Display models or brand new?

My local Paradigm dealer quoted me this 5.1 setup:

Monitor 9 V6 pair for $918.67
CC-290 V6 for $476.67
ADP390 V6 pair for $814.66

Subtotal of $2210 before local sales tax

Those prices are supposed to be discounted from MSRP. By the looks of it, I was probably only getting less than 10% discount from MSRP. My local Paradigm dealer also doesn't stock anything, which also probably explains the small discount amount. Still in this crappo economy, you'd think they would've gone down to at least 15%-20%. You can usually find deals for used Paradigm speakers from either ebay or audiogon.

Yo! Just to give you an idea; a pair of Paradigm Monitor 9 version 5 with Rosenut finish was sold at Videogon for $700/pair.

Markup on speakers is 100% or more, so you you figure out what is a fair price for you and the dealer, don't forget the dealers has to make money too.

It is a local dealer in a small town (30,000)

They are brand new (not display model) they only have black ash or rosewood at that price. They are V6's

For comparison I called a dealer about 70 miles away and he has his 9's for $998.00. It sounds like a good price for the front, and the center channel.

I'm going to bring some music in and do some more listening Saturday, and maybe make the purchase. I like dealing with a local place...

I think the absolute most that you should pay is US$800. I paid CAN$830 for mine, so I'm still being generous on the prices in US currency.

I would say you should search a bit for a lower price but go listen to them and see if they are to your liking. The rosewood's look great.......
