What I'd Like To See

1) Universal players, such as the Denon I own, having a set of pre-outs that can send out a full-range signal when speakers are set to "small". Without it the players bass management capabilities are worthless for anyone using stereo amp.

2)Sterao amps that have either, ideally, bass management in the form of an extra set of high-passed pre-outs; or a simple sub in/out that controlls the gain of a universal or dvd players sub-out signal. Only the new NAD M3 as far as I know. Anyone know of any other stereo amps offering this?

3)Speakers that only go down to 80hz. Even with only bookshelf speakers, I feel like I've wasted money paying for speakers that go down to 53hz when I have them crossed over at 80hz. Not only money, I'm sure there were also midrange and top end performance compromises that were made in the quest to achieve bass that I'll never listen to. Only Soliloquy as far as I know have speakers that seem to have been designed to be used with a sub, Any others?

Am I the only one who feels that source, amp and speaker manufactures are a bit slow in responding to demand?(or am I the only one with these demands?)?

cheers

Triad makes some bookshelves that have such a limited response, as does M&K. You just have to look around.

Unfortunately both Triad and M&K are not really for the "financially challenged"

Both manufactures also make some very nice in-wall systems.

will check those out. the m&k and triads, not the bose.

though in reality i probably wont jump ship, i like dynaudio that much.

i wonder of all users of decent speakers in the world, what percent are using bass management. the number has got to be growing by the year as ht grows relative to stereo. i'm hoping that in the future all my favorite speaker manufacturers will offer speakers tailor made for these types of setups.

now anyone know of any 2.1 amps or integrateds with bass mgmt?

1. Buy an Outlaw ICBM.

2. I've never seen a home amp with this feature. Lots of car amps. Buy an Outlaw ICBM (then put it between your pre-amp & your amp).

3. 2-way bookshelf speakers. I know Paradigm has everything from $200 atoms to $2000 signature S2s. Alot of companies have great bookshelfs.

A THX certified speaker only goes down to 80 Hz and is guaranteed to have a 2nd order slope. The idea is that they should be ideally suited to match with a receiver with a 4th order low pass and 2nd order high pass. THX certified receivers meet that requirement but then so do most non certified receivers.

I have to admit when I bought my B&W FPMs i was worried that because they are so slim they could only reach as low as 72Hz. Now that I have them paired with a good sub I have to say that with eyes closed I doubt someone could tell the difference.

In my situation I paid the the same as I would have if I got full sized speakers that could reach lower.

LOL no really sure what my point is, but still interesting.

By the way...what I would like to see is a plasma, CRT, LCD or projector that some how tells you when you are sending it the exact native resolution and comfirms for you that the internal processor is not being used.

I would also like to see more companies spend money on the design(looks) of their products.

Right now here are the only makers that I think make good looking equipment

Vienna Accustics
B&W (FPM series/XT series only)
B&O
Rotel
Classe
