I'm fairly new to the home theatre world and have a question about what speakers I should buy for the front left and right speakers. Right now I have a primus C25 center channel, Sony SSB-1000 bookshelfs(surrounds) and a Velodyne Vx-10 subwooofer all powered by a sony str-dg510 reciever and a monster stage 2 line conditioner. I've been piecing it together over the last month and a half from online deals and ebay. I thought I was going to be albe to get some older, but still decent large speakers for my front left and rights from my parents, but my dad now has them setup in the garage. So now i'm looken for some more speakers. I need a decent set of front speakers for around the $200 dollar range, maybe a bit more if neccesary. I've been looking at the sony ssf-7000 speakers, I can pick a pair of them up for about $200 on ebay. I'm happy with the sound form the sony bookshelfs so i thought this may be a good way to go. Would this be a good pick? or is there some other speakers i should consider. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I would look for the mains that timbre match the Primus C25. If you can't find them, then I would think about saving, and purchasing your main 3 speakers from one company.

to be honest I'm not overly concerned with the front two speakers being exactly timbre matched with the center channel. The speakers the match the infinity Primus C25 center channel around about $500 bucks, and thats not going to fly at this point, the sony speakers are of similiar size and quality to the Primus C25, well prob not as nice, but overall I think they would do ok. I've heard other surround systems were the fronts didn't match the center channel, and while i know it doesn't make it sounds as seemless as it could, it still sounds pretty damn good. Well back to the point, are there any front speakers that some one would recommend over the sony ssf-7000 speakers for the around $200 dollar range?

Sounds like you can't afford to do this wrong either. Usually Best Buy carries the Primus line from Infinity (least they did here in Canada) and from time to time they would go on sale. WhaT I would do i smove your Sony's to the front forgoing the surround channels until a sale comes up on the primus line. I waited 2 years before getting the turntable of my choice becuase I didn't want to compromise and to me it was well worth the wait.
