I would pick the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 over those any day. My roommate has that set of Logitechs, and what little midrange and treble they have sound like they are coming out of tin cans. Unless all you ever listen to is rap, I would stay away.

They aren't awful, but they wouldn't be my choice either. Is this for a computer, iPod, or what?

The AEGO-M is by far the best sounding computer system I've heard. Let me put it this way, my wife let me give my desktop computer to my kid but she would not let me give her these speakers. If you can find an AE dealer near you, check them out.

I've owned similar logitech sets to those in the past and was never terribly fond of them. The Klipsche would be a much better choice in my experience. Sadly I've never heard of the AEGO-Ms but they look interesting.

It took me a while but I finally ended my quest for computer speakers. I had been looking in to and trying many different things wherever I could but never found anything that I liked. A lot of the small 2.1 computer speaker systems didn't integrate well, the sub always stood out in one way or another. I also found they lacked elsewhere in the frequency range as well. Eventually I started investigating small powered studio monitor type speakers. I was severely limited in the amount of space I had and I also didn't want to devote a significant amount of space on my computer desk to speakers (I also use headphones a lot). Ultimately I settled on the Audioengine A2s and have not regretted that for one moment in the two or three years I've had them. Used in the nearfield on my desk flanking my monitors, they are quite good and while they bass won't rival the big subs that come with some of those 2.1 systems I have been surprised by how satisfyingly full the sound they produce with.

Whatever you get make sure you can return it if it's not working out for you. I have been through many sets of computer speakers (there's a trail of dead, discarded or gifted systems in my wake). I was pretty happy with a 2.1 set of Boston Acoustics until they died years ago. That model was no longer available and that's where I finally started getting more and more dismayed with the options before getting the Audioengines.

The AEGO-M were good enough to substitute for my main system when my Integra processor was gone a couple of months for it's warranty replacement. It does fine filling a smaller size room but excels in nearfield. The satellites are seriously heavy and solid. They also integrate well with the sub, which is also solid and heavy. Every other computer system I've seen put the drivers in a chintzy plastic case that sounds cheap. I think with the AEGO-M, I will never have the need to shop for another set of computer speakers in my lifetime.

...Rap as a genre is most prominent in mids. Real rap that is; not pop music.

Anyways TC i recommend u pick up a pair of m audio av 40s. I brought a pair of av 30s for my cousins birthday and i was rather impresses. While they wont fill a large room by any means they sound very clear and natural in the upper bass, mids and highs. i cranked em pretty hard and while i could feel a lot of air out the port there was no port noise. I felt they would work particularily well crossed to a subwoofer with some socks n the ports but either way they got the basics right. they will blow those logitechs rihht out of the water even without a sub. With a decent sealed sub like the emotiva 10 inch you should get nice spls and clean full range sound in small rooms

also consider a pair of behringer 1031a

How do the AEGO-M compare to AudioEngine A5s? I know one is a satellite and one is bookshelf but in terms of sound quality has anyone used them both and have an opinion on which one is better? (of course the price is a little different too).
