OK, I have a Boston Acoustics VR-12 as my center and it is an excellent center as many of you are aware of but I run a pair of B-52 PA speakers that have 2 15'' drivers. I like them so don't tell me they suck.:p:Dhttp://www.hollywooddj.com/b52modelmx1515a.html My question is should I sell the BA and go with a center that is more compatible? It sounds good now but do you guy's think it would make a difference for the better or not so much? If I was to change I was thinking of something like this...http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--VOCSV600 So what do you think?

tcario,

The whole purpose of the center matching the fronts is to maintain timbre (seamless front sound). Timbre is most noticable in video DVDs/BDs and TV because most most of the dialog comes out of the center speaker. You said it sounds good now, so you might not see much if any change going to a
VocoPro SV-600 3-Way Vocal Speaker (300 Watts, 1x12 in.) In fact it might even sound worse. The ideal match would be a third B-52 for the center.

Good Luck!

I agree. I thought of another B52 but it wouldn't fit in the space I have. Bummer.

It is not only a question of timbre matching but also linear volume control. Those are horn loaded speakers that are probably far more efficient than the BA. As the volume goes up and down dynamically or with the volume control, the speakers are not putting out the same dB as the volume changes due to their differences in efficiency.

I would strongly suggest buying the third B-52 for a center. This should provide a proper balance and make dialog more intelligable when used in concert with the left and right channel.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Westcott. My problem is space. I don't have the room for another full size B52. That is why I was thinking of the one I linked to because it is a good size for me and being a B52 itself, only smaller, I thought it would be a good match.
