What do you think of this DIY Sub

I am looking for advice on this DIY sub idea. I am thinking of building a dual sub (one enclosure) using two MTX thunder 7500's with each of the subs dual 4ohm voice coils wired in series then wired in parallel with each other with a final impedance of 4ohms. I was going to power these with the parts express 1000 watt sub amp, will this amp do the trick? and what size of box should i use? Looking for feedback on this idea, will it work or not? I presently have a B&W ASW675 and its serving the purpose but I feel the need for more bass, I should also mention that i plan on using this sub for just music listening and my choice of music is very broad. (rock, dance, country etc.) The rest of my system is: PSB Stratus Gold i's, NAD C372 driving the mids and tweets, NAD C272 driving woofers, Sony SACD2000 ES Cd player , room size is about 20' x 22' x 9' ceiling. Thanks.

That should be fine with 500 watts per sub. They are not the most efficent woofers in the world, but should do fine as you have a lot of power.

I think you would be better off with different drivers.

I just hate the sound of MTX subs. Boom Boom Boom to my ears.

Do you already have the 7500 drivers? If not the MZS 1204's are actually a better choice. Don't listen to sheep, he is wrong about the MTX drivers, they will sound great in a box designed for them.

Good, but not great

MTX is a fantastic driver, but its application is better suited for car audio. Look at other 12" drivers and you will quickly see that they go down to 18 or 20 Hz. The MTX drivers typically go down to the 40 Hz range, not much below that even on their 15" drivers (some go down to 36 Hz).
However, if that is not a problem for you, by all means, go ahead and build a good sub! You'll get plenty of drive from MTX, so you will not be disappointed.
