What do you think my older equipment is worth?

Hey guys, since you know "your stuff" better than I do... I'm changing out my system (actually inherited mom's stuff which is newer than our older units are). We are interested in finding new homes for our excellent older equipment that all works perfectly - so can you guys tell me what I should be able to get for these things:

Harman/Kardon FL 8300 5 disk cd changer player

Harman/Kardon AVR 20II Receiver

Sony TC-WE305 Dual Cassette Deck

I know it's ancient by the standards here, but still great equipment for folks just starting out or on a tight budget. So if anyone could tell me how much I should ask (and perhaps a few places to try and sell them), I would be very appreciative!

Not really - they are too far away from us and they are too spoiled to want to pay shipping or drive (because they already have so many things to choose from in that size city). But I still don't know what to ask for them though...

i had that harmon av reciever and i belive it was rated at 60 wpc, and was a very strong unit, even used it as a pre to my mac. The unit would make an excellent zone amp or stereo receiver. If i remember correct i think it was 499 retail back in 96? I would think you can get 75-100 for it. The cd and the tape deck will fetch a couple of bucks, not much.

A good place to sell is eBay

You can put it on auction. You can put a minimum price you will accepted and a "Buy It Now" price. Another possibility is to donatae to Goodwill or salvation Army and take a tax deduction.

However, it might be worth more than you think.

I still have an older Marantz 1060 power amp that still works great. I think it is worth about what I originally paid for it over 30 years ago :) I still have a Fisher Audio Studio Standard AM/FM tuner that also bought over 30 years ago becuase it was the first digital tuner I saw. About the same time I put a digital clock in my Alfetta GT car. I had them in my garage system until I upgrade all my systems about two months ago. The Den was upgrades and the den equipment went ot the media room and the media roopm equipment went to the garage and I finally threw out my old off-brand speakers :D in which some of the nine 41/2 paper cones were not working anyway. It was a 9xx and the "nine" in the name came from the nine direct/reflecting speakers. I don't know why or or how I thought 4 1/2 speakers could produce a decent sound spectrum.

Midcow2 - thanks for the info - but I'm all done selling sound equipment. I did awesome on them I think. $214 for the 3 pieces. Phew! All done, now to just sit back and enjoy what I have now.

Thanks to you all for your ideas and suggestions.

I was actually looking for a tape deck. Oh well, didn't see your post in time. Glad you were able to sell all 3 pieces.

Isn't the internet wonderful? In the old days before the net you practically had to give away old stuff for free in one of those garage sales.

Yup, and it was a good one - but you'll find what you're looking for.

In reference to ebay - great place to BUY audio equipment (used) - but a LOUSY place to sell it! The units just like mine were getting like $25 and I got $125! Craigslist is the way to go!!

Mods, if you would like, you can close this thread any time - unless others just want to continue chatting here.

I have a vintage Kenwood tuner, amp and double cassette deck in great condition. I will sell the cassette deck by itself if you are interested. Looks immaculate.

I live in Florida so have to take shipping costs into consideration. It's not a real heavy unit and I will sell it cheap for a friend in need...thanks.
