What do you think about this desk top set up?

Hey so this is what i am planning on using for my room at school next year. The room is pretty small. I would run a Technics SL-Q3 through some sort of preamp (not sure yet, open to suggestions) to a Glow Audio Amp1, to a set of BA A-40 series II bookshelf speakers. What do you think? and recommendations or words of advice? this will be my first "nice" set up. Something i will have put some real money into.

The emotiva usp-1 is still on sale for $399 if you want a preamplifier. http://www.emotiva.com/usp1.shtm The Glow Amp1 looks cool but two things you might want to think about. First, if you end up with a number of different separates, that eats up room and you may be space limited. Perhaps an all in one solution might be the way to go. This is one possibility, http://signalpathint.com/index.php/musicBox/musicBox.html. I opted for a different set up for my desk-top but I only rely on computer playback: the audioengine N-22 amp, P-4 speakers, and HRT musicstreamer II. Second, are you going to be happy with an amp that does 5 watts per channel? You will need some seriously efficient speakers.

Yeah i think the weakest link in the set up is the amp. In the owner's manual of the speaker though, it does recommend and amp with 5-40 watts, so, although it is at the low end it might still be ok. And also I'm getting the amp for 180 dollars, which is a steal. I'm just waiting for the glow to set then I'll set everything up and we'll find out how it sounds! thanks for the info on the preamp, that one might be perfect.
