What do you think about these cables

Here is one of the component cables I bought some months back, after looking around for days and being frustrated at prices. I also have one made by GE that looks like the same cable. These were 19.95 for a 12ft cable at target where I bought them. I also had a short Monster cable that was 49.95 at best buy and I could not see any difference in picture quality. What do you think of these cables? The wire being used looks very good.

If they both work equally well, I'd say that one is grossly overpriced. You might even be able to equal the preformance of the lesser priced of the two for an even lower price.

The three main things to consider for video cables are:
1) 75 ohm (all video cables should meet this criteria)
2) Good shielding, and finally
3) Solid construction.

These attributes aren't magical and don't cost a fortune, although the marketing mavens would have you believe otherwise.

Sometimes, look and feel can give some indication if you know what you're looking at and feeling for. Even so, without dismantling one or two, it's still a guess.

Remember, the more expensive cables "look and feel" impressive and these can always be added to a standard run of the mill, off the reel stock cable. They couldn't justify the price otherwise.

But, price is not always a guarantee that what you get is "better" than one costing less. ...sometimes much, much less. The price of diminishing returns on these buggers is a LOT lower than tha marketing mavens would have you believe.

Questioning on a site like this is not a bad way to get opinions on what's real and what's an illusion. Most of the "better" brands are known.

The cables look good. This should be a good reference for someone needing new cables.

Cheers
