ok so this is what my blu ray player internally decodes DTS master audio, Doloby true hd, all the new stuff it decodes.

My receiver is a Marantz SR7001 its most advanced audio decoder is Doloby Digital pro ex.

My problem is sudden spikes in volume. This happens because we have to turn up the volume to hear the dialog, then an action scene comes along and blows us away.

Since im not using a center channel, i select NO for that channel in the receiver, along with all the other channels not in use.

I'm using high speed HDMI 1.3 cables, and have the bdp set to audio hdmi.

I just cant get it to sound right:confused::confused::confused:

Thanks for reading, and thanks for any insight!

Look to see if your receiver has a "night mode". It's a setting used to reduce the dynamic range of the receiver.

I'm pretty sure thats not engaged. I would have a icon light up
on the receiver screen.

I looked it up in the manual and yes it has a night mode so try engaging it and see if that helps.
