I was just curious on what blu-ray releases people think are "must owns" ... I.E. the ones that even if you have them on DVD you'd be a "fool" not to immdiately go out and get the Blu-ray version.

The Dark Knight - good use of surrounds, some explosions, lots of scenes for checking shadow detail and it's the most awesome movie I've ever seen.

Amadeus Director's Cut - great visuals and awesome music.

Baraka - excellent world music soundtrack and stunning cinematography.

I wanted to include Serenity and The Fifth Element but if I have to stick to 3, those are they.

Agree with most of the postings so far- I'll add a couple new ones:

Die Hard 4 (if only for the scene with the F-35 towards the end)

Cars looks and sounds great, but I didn't really enjoy the movie itself. A Bug's Life is better IMO, and looks just as impressive. The Pixar Shorts disc is another solid one. Die Hard 4 is a great demo disc.

Kingdom of Heaven is the first disc I tested on the BDP-83 :)

Master & Commander doesn't look as good as it could IMO, otherwise it might have made my list as well.

I want those as well and the prequel “The Hobbit” is in production so we may see the LOTR trilogy prior to its release in theatres at least I hope so.

Unfortunately we may not ever see any of the Star wars movies as John Singh, spokesperson for Lucasfilm Ltd. said, "Lucasfilm Ltd. has no plans to release any of the Star Wars movies on Blu-ray.

Cars
Ratatouille
Sin City

Killer sound, unbelieveable picture. I'm a bit iffy on the story itself for Cars, but overall, these are the three most amazing looking/sounding BDs in my collection.

cheers,
supervij
