I just got the Insignia NSWBRDVD blueray player and so far I thinks its a good blue ray for its price. The only problem I have with it is its wifi range I have the router about 30ft away so I dont get the best connection.

I have a dlinks usb wifi usb port and I was wondering if I could attach it to my blueray player usb port to increase it range. As my wifi usb cord is about 9ft It would improve it range. But my question is would the blue ray player be able to download its wifi disk software that it came with?

if not I would like to how I could use this cool usb port feature on my bd?

I have not looked at your particular model, but most USB ports on blue-ray players are for storage devices typically used to store movies downloaded from places like netflix.

You'd have to look at your manual to determine if the USB could be used to plug in a wifi adapter. Some may allow this, others do not.

Most usb ports are used for updating the firmware on the player. I looked online at your player's information and it says that the usb port is "For expanded connectivity options." A review for the player says "With a USB flash drive or an external hard drive you can watch WMV, XviD avi, H.264 MPeg4, and MKV hi-res files. This has become my favorite feature!" My guess is that it won't work with your usb wifi adapter. What kind of router do you have? Is running an ethernet cable not an option?

I have a belkin wireless G router 802.11g..its decent router
and no I dont want to run ethernet cable it would be a hassel and clutter Im waiting on my 20ft hdmi cable from bluejeanscable.com so I can place my blue ray on top of my entertainment center so it could receive a better signal.
I was just wondering if i could use that as a temporary solution as the online store bluejean cable only excepts paypal its taking awhile for my bank to process the transfering funds from my bank to paypal
thats a kool feature what about running a extenal hard drive with built in wifi so I can wirelessly send movies and music and pics from my computer to the external harddrive with wifi to the blue ray player??
would that work?
