In the past, I would normally just check out Cnet and buy one of the earbuds ranked among the "Best Headphones of YYYY". That's how I originally discovered my Image S4 In-Ear Headphones back in 2010 which I've kept using up until now. I think they ranked the image S4 as the top earbud headphones for a few years straight. I liked them so much I bought them three times.
The ones I have now seem to be shorting out whenever the cord is even slightly wiggled near the 3.5mm plug. I checked out Cnet and it looks like they had some new recommended
earbuds for 2014. I decided to get the Beyerdynamic DX 160 IE (Black); however, they seem to be out of stock everywhere.
I didn't want to go with any of the other ones listed there either because they were too pricey or the score was rated less than "excellent". I looked around for alternative sites and found reviewed.com. They have an entire sub domain dedicated towards headphone reviews. I noticed they only rated the DX 160 at
7.3/10 and recommended the JBL
Synchros S200 instead which is apparently their highest rated earbud set and it retails for even less than the DX 160.
By no means am I an audio expert which is why I rely on review sites and forums like this to point me in the right direction. I might not know much about "highs" or "mids", but I can always discern crap quality sound when I hear it. I'm just trying to avoid that like the plague.
Let me know which review sites I can use as a credible source for headphone ratings and recommendations. Also, let me know if either the Beyerdynamic DX 160 IE or the JBL Synchros S200 are good choices.
Thanks
