My Name is Kevin McCusker, and I am an audioholic.
I have about a year left in the military, which means i have to actually start worrying about the real world. getting an education, paying rent, (hopefully) not have to worry about going to some 3rd world country and the only decent sound i have comes through a pair of headphones and an ipod.
Segway to the point of my thread. There are a few career fields i am interested in, unfortunately i dont know how to get into them, or for the most part, if they exist. I have always loved sound, from the moment i received a Lennox Sound boombox with detachable speakers for my 10th birthday, i have been obsessed with the pursuit of better sound. I want to continue that same pursuit, but i also wouldnt mind earning a living from it. Making money for something I love, its the American Dream. My question to you all is what fields exist for somebody looking for to make a life out of audio, im looking more for of an engineering/designing education. Also what types of companies would i expect to be working for upon completion of my schooling. Lastly, is there anything i could be doing now as far as certifications or books i should be reading to better prepare myself? any help is greatly appreciated.
