At last, I found the right place to ask about subwoofers.

I am currently waiting an REL T3 sub that I am going to match it with Magnepan MG12 speakers and Rotel RC1082 and RB1080.

Since I am a new on subwoofers I would like your opinions of this combination.

Any advices are welcomed
Thank you

The Rotel RC1082 is touted as one the best analog sound quality pre-amps around, designed to give warm sound to analog and phono inputs --- no digital!. And the RB1080 is a matching class D 100 watt per channel Amp.

It will not support a normal powered sub-woofer. Your set-up is pure 2 channel stereo, albiet, very good 2 channel stereo. The T3 subwoofer ( made in China if that is any consequence) is one exception subwoofer that will work with the Rotel pre-out and amp you have. It hooks up to the main speaker terminals to accept "the identical signals as the main speakers". The recommended starting crossover point of the T3 is very low; start at 25 hz and gradually increase until the ideal crossover is found usually at 60 Hz or less.

Good Luck - Nice equipment !

Your 2-3 first rows of your posting were kind of scaring.
But after you made it very clear.

I hope you are right and it seems you know judging from your description.

When the sub arrives I will hook it up and post my impressions

Actually as a former owner the RB 1080 is not a class D amp. Its a 200 watt class a/b amp. ;):) It's a great amp.

REL Sub demo

So my REL Subwoofer arrived.:)

Grate packaging, safe and neat.
Its been two days now that I test it thoroughly and I am trying to find the right adjustment and placement.

Starting first with placement I will try to give the best description I can.

CONFIGURATIONS:
I placed the sub behind the left speaker to a corner. Te sub though is not exactly behind the speaker as the manufacturer recommends.

Now I have the three adjustments on the sub, because the connection is a Neutrik Speakon high-level input for direct connection to amplifier.

I am a little confused with the adjustments of the level of the sub, the phase ...is it supposed to be 0 or 180? and the crossover.
My speakers Magnepan MG12 are from 45-22kHz ±3dB

Am I supposed to set the crossover at 45 or less than 45?

I didnt think that it would be so difficult.

I would appreciate all your thoughts and advices.

The SOUND:
Sound comes out grate and I am sure that when I set it up properly it will be the best.
One think I dont like is the roaring or rumbling of the base.
I dont like tso much the home cinema so I will try to avoid it.

Please share your thoughts and your ideas

Thank you
