I am currently searching for either a pre/pro & amp combo or a receiver that would be a suitable match with my existing equipment. My system consists of a Sony DVP-NS900V dvd/sacd/cd player, (think poor man’s 999es) Mission speakers (UK) 780s (main), 771 (surround) 77c (center) and an Energy 10.2 sub. For those not familiar with Mission, their drivers employ the same quasi phase plug design as found on Audioholics’ high rated RBH Limited 61-LSE (with the same performance requirements for their electronics). My preferences in sound quality would lean towards that of the new Cambridge Audio Azur 640A integrated amp rather than brighter systems. Where would the line be drawn for considering hopeful candidates?

You have a nice system. Do you have a stereo amp is running it now? If so, read my post on how to make a RX-V2400 into a RX-Z9. This would do you proud and would not "Kosta-packet"?

Actually that was one of my other options, to use a separate amp for stereo. To be honest, I was surprised to see Yamaha as a recommendation. I didn’t even consider a yamie into the picture. Trying not to be biased and keeping an open mind I began to research the RX-V2400 receiver. Comparing it with the Pioneer 55txi their features and specs are neck to neck, with the yamie at almost haft the price. So, it’s the RX-V2400 for me and with the money saved I can pick up a good 2-channel amp. Thanks for showing me the light.
