Ok i am getting into the HD-DVD era and as of now have a Toshiba 50inch DLP 720p/1080i TV. Model: 50HM66.

I want to buy a native resolution 1080p TV. Is there any particular brand that is better then other PQ wise. I hear some upscale video internally better then others. I want between a 50inch and 56inch.

Any suggestions would be helpful thanks.

One of my room mates bought a 50" samsung, model # is HL-S5087W, and its pretty good; it doesn't look very good with SD content and without adjustments I think the picture is a little harsh, way too much edge sharpening (you can see white artifacts around black lines etc). I made some adjustments to the picture and got it looking pretty good but overall I think there are better tvs out there.

when I get my own place next year I will be buying the mitsubishi WD-52631, in comparison to the samsung mentioned above, it is IMO, slightly better in all aspects (ie color quality, blacks, accurate sharpness and contrast etc), and only costs slightly more.

Sony SXRD 50" 1080p

I did a lot of research and bought the 1080p Sony SXRD KDS-50A2000 rear projection TV. I was considering Samsung, but read a lot of problems with them and Samsungs service is rated F-. Don't get a Samsung. I love my new Sony! I have HD Direct TV HDMI. And tomorrow my new Toshiba 1080p HD-AX2 HD DVD player will arrive. I use Blue Jeans HDMI cables. TOP quality and outstanding prices and 2 day delivery for $5.75. GO FOR IT!:D
