I'm looking at Diamond 9.5 or 9.6 and Pacific PI30. The Diamonds are new and seem priced well at high $400 and mid $500 a pair. I need a quick review.
How do these sound? What are they similar to in sound to?
The Pacifics are used but in excellent shape. They have the tweeter on top in a bullet type enclosure. Wouldn't the Pacifics be an upgrade compared to the Diamonds? I can get them for the same price. What years did they make the pacifics?
What do you think?

That seems like a fair price for the 9.5 and 9.6. I have listened to them and have the 9.CM center but ended up with the EVO2 line for my mains.

The 9.x line is similar to the EVO line but has slightly lower quality drivers and the cabinets are not up to the same construction level. That being said I still would recommend them for the price you are getting. The 9.CM center is a sealed center and I liked it better than the EVO center.

I would equate the sound of these speakers to other British speakers. They have great mid-range and are not harsh. I went from Klipsch to these and found I could listen to them forever at very high levels without the fatigue I used to get. They do produce a decent amount of bass but for movies you will most definitely want a sub.

I would also say for music they do a very good job with female voices and acoustic music. Nora Jones and the Dave Mathews live Blu-Ray are simply amazing. I do listen to heavier music as well and the do a good job but really shine with the former.

The Pacific's you are describing are quite old. That line came out before the EVO's which are before the EVO2's I have now. I have not heard that model but the 9.x line should be more recent. Check the mfg date on the Pacific and see what year it has.

Good luck and keep us posted.
