Ok well I did some speaker demos over the holiday's and I put money down of a pair of EVO 20 towers and a 9.CM center.

I decided to sell my Klipsch RVX-42 on wall speakers and get a pair of monitors or towers now that I have a dedicated room. I listed to Monitor Audio silver series, Paradigm monitor series v.4, Mordaunt short, and I really like the wharfedales.

The EVO 20's are his demo's and have a small crack in the wood veneer on one of the towers but it is minor. I really liked the imaging on these speakers and a very wide soundstage. They were able to go lower than the stand mounted monitors and should just get better when matched with my sub. I will be able to lower all my front speakers to 80hz instead of 100 with the on walls. Also the EVO's are front ported which is big for me as I still need to have them close to the wall.

The 9.CM center is from their diamond series but still matches well with the evo series. It is a 3 way sealed unit with dual 6.5 woofers and seems to be a serious step up from the rvx.

I know both of these are not the most recent models (there is now an evo2) but for 700 I could not pass this up for the money. We will see when I get them home and in my room.

Anyone else have experience with Wharfedale or any comments?

No Opinions on Wharfedale? I find this a bit suprising or maybe I posted this at a bad time.

I think Wharfedale's fanbase is largest in the UK and Australia adk. There are not that many sold here, nor a large fanbase (kind of the chicken/egg thing). I don't even know of any US distrubutors. Just thought I'd let you know we're not ignoring you. :)

HI,

I have recently 'upgraded' my system which now includes Wharfedale Pacific Evo 40s as my fronts and am deciding on the 9.cm or Wharfedale Pacific Evo centre, not sure which one is best. (Any input would be appreciated). As I listen to predominantly movies I think that getting the centre speaker right is the most important part of the system, happy to be corrected.

I have always used Wharfedale and assorted other speaker manufacturers but like you have a soft spot for the Wharfedale Speakers. Point of note I use Wharfedale WH-3 as my surround speakers and I have listened and trialled alot of others and I really think this is easily the best surround speaker I have heard and wouldnt trade them for quids. If anyone knows where I can still get them that would be handy. (Always keep my eye out on Ebay).

I also enjoy both my Wharfedale Subwoofers.

Will be interested on any future comment.

I've never heard Wharfdales, but I'm pretty sure you know that they have been around for a long, long time and have a good reputation.

If you search some of the posts from IMCloud, I think he owns at least a couple pairs. Maybe even send him a PM, but he's not very active on here anymore.

Wow a five year old thread. I was just a padawan back then.:)

I had the 40's for a few months and then found a great deal on the EVO2 50's and have never looked back. I also now have the Opus center which is great.

To lostcroweater; I would go with the 9.CM center over the EVO center. I heard both side by side and the sealed CM was much cleaner and clearer than the EVO.

Ok thanks, is there much of a timbre difference and if so is it worth worrying about?
