Wish that I could help you, but I don't think that it's been released. Parts Express shows a due date of July 2. Most places don't even show it, yet.

If you find out, please let us know. I'd love to get one. Thanks.

I see that now. Sorry. I was looking earlier today for a place online with some, and I still couldn't find anywhere tonight. Maybe someone else here knows.

This might seem like a silly idea, but...

... have you posed this question on the AVS forums?

Where to buy?

Please try onecall.com. Supposedly they have 5 units in stock and ready to ship. You can chat live with the rep.

Maybe i'm just old, crotchety and overly cynical, but why does this whole thread look like the old "set 'em up and knock 'em down" type of spam?

Could be, but I don't think so. After my 1015 stopped working on Tuesday, I was actually thinking the same thing - where can I get a 1018? So, it seems innocent enough to me.

It's probably going to be a pretty popular receiver, although I'm going to hold out for the next step up (VSX-01TX) because of THX and the 12V triggers.

Thanks, Buzz. Welcome to the forum. I know that I can order one from Pioneer, but I appreciate the comment. I believe that fito's question was directed at getting one now like the folks at AVS. Can you tell us if Pioneer has those in stock and is shipping? I just don't know.

Personally, I prefer to order from someplace with which I have experience and am familiar with their return policies and customer service, so I won't order direct - not that it's a bad approach, just not what I want to do.

Yes, AVSers are getting them directly from Pioneer. It appears no one else will be selling them until at least July 2nd. Pioneer started selling them last week and the early adopters elected 2 day shipping which actually took a couple days longer than expected. The first units were received this past Monday and the reviews are just beginning as guys are setting up their systems. I'm already convinced and will be getting one next week.

Thanks, Buzz! That's great information. The 1018 looks like a real nice choice for a lot of folks. Do you know what Pioneer is charging for direct orders? Is it $599 + shipping? I suppose that I could just go look myself, but that info might help out other people here, as well. :)

Spot on. There might be a small price break next week from the big box stores and the etailers but I'd bet it will be a couple of months before the real price competition begins. Buy dot com does offer a very low preorder price but I don't trust those guys even a little bit for any item over 20 bucks. Google feedback on them is horrible.

Someone on AVS did mention that BB might have a 10% off sale on the 4th of July but I haven't confirmed that yet.

But no Audyssey Dynamic EQ on Pioneer

I just read somewhere- probably on avs forum- that Pioneer receivers do not use Audyssey, and last fall Audyssey introduced A. Dynamic EQ. Supposedly it's good. Who does have it? See the Onkyo TX-SR576 and 506, introduced 3-17-2008. MSRP of $479 and $379. Both have it. They are entry level but is it not interesting about Audyssey Dynamic EQ? I have read about Audyssey for years, but am just picking up on the new feature, A Dynamic EQ.

Onkyo says in their press release re the two above units that they are "among the first receivers available anywhere with Audyssey's new Dynamic EQ loudness correction technology.

Does this cause anyone to delete Pioneer from consideration? I'm thinking of maybe buying the SC-07 when it comes out in Aug. 2008. That or the new pre-pro from Emotiva and their big amp.

If it's great, maybe Onkyo will have it on their new flagship above the 905 whenever it comes out.

Hey, fresno, thanks for the info. Yeah, the Audyssey algorithms seem pretty cool.

There's almost always pros and cons to each unit. The Onkyo 506 (I'm not sure about the 576) can't process audio from HDMI, nor does it have a switched outlet, a 12V trigger, or THX surround modes. The MCACC auto set-up feature on my Pioneer 1015 impressed me, and the newer models have an updated version of that algorithm. So, while the Audyssey algorithms do intrigue me, I'm not going to rule out a new Pioneer because they don't have them.

However, now that my 1015 is working again, I'm not in the market for any of them. :)

So has anyone picked one up? After comparing the similar models at this price point I'm heavily leaning toward this one once I get my sub, rear speakers, and a ps3...assuming something better hasn't come out by then.
