Weird problem with Video Essentials calibration

Hi there,

I recently attempted to calibrate a projector, the Panasonic AE 900. I went from test to test. No problem.

I then carried on to the sharpness test. I left the screen on for about a minute without doing a thing. I was distracted. When I looked at the screen, I noticed that the whole projector screen was bright white.

I was currently using HDMI, and after switching back and forth between inputs, I found that the HDMI was just bright white. I turned the projector off and five minutes later turned it back on. Same problem.

It's since been two days and I haven't checked to see what the results are. The S-Video inputs are fine right now. But this worries me. If I must do another projector calibration and then all of a sudden the screen turns white, what am I to do ?

Has anyone ever experienced this problem before ? It's making me a bit nervous to use the software. Comments would be appreciated.

I've never seen anything like that but here is a wild guess that is probably way off base...

Does the projector have any kind of 'burn-in' prevention software? There are a few different techniques like shifting the image slightly, screensavers, etc. (not sure if they apply to projectors). MAYBE because you left a static image up for awhile the projector changed the image to an all white background.

As far as I know, the projector does not have burn-in prevention. What concerned me most was that the entire screen was white hot. Looking at the projector lens, it was just bright white.

Perhaps I left the test pattern on for a minute too long. I just hope that the problem goes away.

I have had that pattern and others on for long periods of time and I have never had an issue like that. Something may be wrong. Try shutting off your projector from the switch in the back. I had mine go all green once and that fixed it and it never returned. If that does not work, then you need to get it looked at.

I haven't used that disc so I'm only guessing here - perhaps it moved to the next test screen and that screen happened to be all white?

Edit: In retrospect, since this was my 666th post, I wouldn't try my suggestion. Who knows what kind of portal to demonic planes it might open up!
