i just received a HDMI cable and a HDMI to DVI adapter for my older JVC 56" (AV-56wp30). anyhow i hooked it all up to my dish ViP622 and i didnt get any picture...
anyhow i hooked my component cables back up and did a little googleing. i downloaded the manual and was reading this in the DTV section..
The Digital-In terminal can only be used with 1080i, 720p and 480p picture signals. Set the
DTV decode Digital-Out terminal output setting to 1080i, 720p or 480p.
and i read this in the dvd section...
* Notes About HDTV Operation
The AV-56WP30 or AV-48WP30 can display 480p, 480i, 1080i and 720p signal formats
using the Component Video Inputs. It cannot display 1080p signal. For High Definition
(HDTV) picture display a DTV decoder must be connected to the TV.
ok so thats all good, but i then read this in the programming menu section.
Note:
The DIGITAL-IN menu can only be displayed when a 480p picture signal is input to the
Digital-In terminal and the picture is being displayed on the screen.
thats kind of confusing, i think later tonight i am going to set my dish reciever to 480p and see what happens...
but the strange thing is, why would a digital in only display 480p and component would go up to 720p? or is there i difference between 480p digital and 720p analog? (if that makes sense)
