This one is an odd movie to try if you get the chance and want something very, very different. We Have a Pope (Papem Habemus - the first Latin titled flick I've seen for a while), is a light fantasy (almost a comedy), in which a new Pope is elected and disappears from his introductory walk onto the Vatican balcony. This guy is uncertain that he has what it takes to be pope and goes on an extended incognito walkabout in Rome, trying to figure out whether he is capable of being the voice of God for millions.
The flick is saturated with cardinals, Vatican art, Catholic ritual, hordes of the faithful and somber reflection, but lightens up to the extent that you begin to wonder just what all that stuff really means. Set in Rome, in Italian with subtitles (the only way it should be), I was surprised (considering the subject matter) that I liked it and its bittersweet ending. Bear in mind, and don't say I didn't warn you, it's full of red vestments, portly, gray haired cardinals and NO action. It's probably also NOT Vatican approved.
