I figured I'd start the thread. I'm planning to see this tomorrow afternoon. It's doing OK on Rotten Tomatoes so I'm hopeful it'll be decent.

This just reminded me it came out today. I know nothing of the story. Only that it was pretty massive and alot of people like the comic right? I do think the clips I have seen look pretty wicked. I'll post what I think later because I'll most likely see it tonight.

I didn't know it was coming out tonight. I am supposed to go see it with a friend. the effects should be entertaining, if nothing else. Caveat emptor: I know nothing about the story/comics.

I would take RT's comments and reviews with a grain of salt, they are usually way off IMO.

I'm planning on seeing it tomorrow.

I'm interested in hearing more about this movie. The ads on TV look like it's a SFX-extravaganza. I too know nothing of the comic - but isn't there one of them that looks like a Batman clone/rip-off?

I really wanted to see it at first but that glowing blue guy is naked for a lot of the movie and I have a "No Wiener" clause in my film-watching contract. It doesn't matter if it is a blue one or not. :D

That said, it is a very original story, it is very violent, and I wouldn't consider any of the characters a Batman ripoff.

I went to the midnight showing last night and really enjoyed the film. I have never read the story and knew nothing about it before the movie. The film did a pretty good job of explaining the Watchmen story.

There was a definitely larger ratio of blue male junk and rear ends to female breasts:eek:

I really liked it. I have not read the original myself so I have to be silent on whether it was "correct". Our local newspaper reviewer, a guy who only likes earnestly acted, realistic movies, savaged it so that was enough reason to see it. The look was great, FX excellent and while it was long, I didn't think it dragged anywhere. The script was more about metaphor than characters but that seemed to be in keeping with the graphical novel origins. My daughter, who has read the original and saw the movie informed my on the deviations from the original, but she was as enthusiastic as I was. I thought that I missed a lot and want to see it again. Highly recommended for fans of the genre as well as non-fans with open minds.

Just got back from watching it. I thought it was good. Not screaming excellent, but definitely worth the watch.

The movie was good, not great. Too much little things glossed over. The movie really needs to be about 3-4 hours long to do the book justice. So when Snyder puts it on Blu-ray I hope to see a longer cut.

Oh! And the BASS!!! This is the new reference!!! So much sick bass it's unbelievable!!

I must say I agree with all of this. Most of what was off from the book made sense to do so for a wider movie audince, but some major parts of the book were just skipped over. All in all it was good, Ill get it on BR when it comes out. Ill probably read the book again now that I saw the movie too.

I didn't read the novel. Saw the movie today and liked it. Now I don't have a problem with nudity. The Dr. was in great shape so that made looking at a nude guy easier. But why does he wear clothes when he hits the town (suit for funeral and tv appearance and undies for war) but then walks around fully nude in front of his superhero friends? What's the story?

I wasn't expecting the cool soundtrack as well. King Cole and Dylan in the beginning. Right on.

When he teleports himself, he demolecularizes - including clothes. It became a burden to him. Things such as shame and decency is beyond his care. He's a God who cannot die. It's a symbol of his accension into something greater than human values.

I would also say that his superhero "friends" are more copacetic of his nudity than the general public and it's reasonable to assume that in the company of strangers or the broad public that it would be considered decent to be in apparel.

I made the mistake of getting drunk then going. So by the 3rd hour i was dying for the movie to end. I think it would be best for me to watch it again before I say to much about it. Long to me, yes but pretty cool. I would be kinda wtf with all the male blue junk but as a guy I see boobs in lots of movies so I guess my girl should get somthing too. I do understand the whole teleport thing. I wish I could get away to mars like that. And I must say the soundtrack kicked ***.

You being the smartest man on earth is like being the smartest termite on earth to me.
Damn I liked this movie. I saw a few people walking out during it. I guess it was too long for them. But I was glued to my seat. The dr. was awesome to me. It was amazing how he slowly lost his humanity. What was up with the pet tiger thing at the end? I liked the fight scenes alot also. My fav character was between the doc and rorsheck. I cant wait for the blu ray. Im sure I missed a few things and I cant wait to really dissect it. I also liked how the movie took its time to let you get to know each character. It kicked *** imo. Now I hope that transformers and wolverine are longer than 1 hour and 30 mins.

I didn't get sick in there;):D
Yes, the visual and audio are darn good. Don't know the story so to me it was a bit on the dark side.

Dude... I dont know what kind of theaters you have in your neck of the woods... but if they are putting sick bass in the room with you... that would seem to make it kind of hard to watch a movie... with all the flopping and the smell...
