Hey Thanks, I did look for that title, but I did not see it.

Well then, that will be for the Blu-ray version, that should well cover it. :)
Watchmen on Blu-ray will be out next week, Tuesday the 21st.

So now, we'll be able to talk about the video and audio quality of the disc,
plus the special features, including track's commentaries.
I'm really looking forward to it. :)

Then, we can consider this thread as a preview (for a week) of the upcoming
Blu-ray version. Sounds fair enough to you j_garcia?

Youpie, finally the big day for "Watchmen" on Blu-ray.

Today I'm buying the 3-disc set on Blu-ray (steelbox exclusive edition), Director's cut of "Watchmen". :)
And tonight should be a very cool night.

Hmmm... I feel very ecstatic. :D

I thouroughly enjoyed this movie in theaters, and again on Blu. There's one scene where Rorschach is walking down the sidewalk passed some windows with neon light reflections in the glass behind him. It looks absolutely awesome at 1080p.

I thought to Bluray was awesome as well. Haven't started on the bonus features yet, but the movie looked and sounded amazing, even on my 720p tv, so I'm sure it is stunning in 1080p. I did not see this in theaters so this was my first time through the movie. I can see why reviews on this were so ridiculously split. If you have read the novel, which I have a couple times, then you will probably appreciate how closely it stuck within those confines. If you haven't read it, then I can also see how you would have a hard time with this movie with everything that is going on. Even being at 3 hours, they still cut quite a bit of back story that really adds to the whole experience of the movie. My advice would be, if you haven't read the book, do yourself a favor and do so before you see the movie, it will be worth your while.

The night before last night and also last night, I fell asleep, both nights, trying to watch "Watchmen" on Blu-ray.

Too tired I guess. I'll give it another shot when my brains are not so fried. ;)
I made it half way, last night, that's better than only about 20 minutes the night before.
But then, I started the movie, on both nights, very late, too late actually.
So, for my third try, I will start the film much earlier; that should work better this time around.

:)

* And Thanks to Mike, just above, for the advice on reading the book first.
Makes great sense.

I got the Blu Ray yesterday. I found the video quality stunning. Very impressive stuff. This is on heavy movie. Entertaining, but very thought provoking.

I also thought that the soundtrack sounded somewhat loud to me... I don't usually have to turn down my volume from what I normally watch movies at, which I don't consider loud, but at a couple of points I got nervous about annoying the neighbors.

Very good movie. There's a lot of depth and insitgh there. The characters are flawed and that is what makes them interesting. They were all fairly well fleshed out too. I think this one warrants additional viewings despite being that heavy. SQ and AQ were very good. I can see why some did not like this film, but I enjoyed it.

Great flick overall on Blu-ray

Finally! I watched 'Watchmen' on blu-ray last night for the third time!
But this time, I was able to watched it entirely in one single viewing straight through. :)

Wow! I love this movie; it suits perfectly my normal mood (well, at least last night).
Excellent picture quality with audio to boot also.
And all these characters are so cool.

Simply love it. :)

This is such a great, dark, strange, noir-ish movie. The idea of these used-up, retired superheros strapping on the tights for one more adventure in the corrupt city is appealing. I found that the sound on the BD seemed more boomy than I recall the movie being in the theater. It was one of those that made my sub walk around the room, dragging its anchor. Unfortunately, it was also one of those flicks where my wife was constantly telling me to "turn it up...turn it down...turn it up..... I gave up and let her have the remote.

I've never read the book, nor had the faintest idea what the Watchmen was about.

My friend brought the director's cut over last night, and I quite enjoyed it. I can see how "superheroes" are a perfect medium to portray various philosophical/morality plays at the same time.

The movie is 3hr 6 min IIRC, and they obviously used much of it towards character development.

I HATED this movie. I am normally easy on movies, IE I like the F&F series, even though the acting is crap. Loved 300, Sin City, Sky Captain, etc. But this movie I had a lot of issues with.

Plot: ALL OVER THE PLACE. So much could have been left out to keep it from being 3 hours. I know there was so much back story they had to fill in, but damn it dragged during a lot of parts.

Mastering: The audio was crap. When the dialogue was going, it had to be turned up, and then during the action, BOOOOOMMM. And I started it at 8:30, so when **** is blowing up at 11 in my Apt, the neighbors aren't happy.

I will say the visuals are nice, both the scenery and effects. Other than that, I definately wouldn't buy this movie unless you are a fan of the comics.

I liked the movie because it is NOT a superhero movie, it is about each of the characters and is extremely character driven. It wasn't all over the place, if you ask me. Though it jumped around from each story, it still flowed well enough that it didn't detract from the overall movie IMO. It could have been done just as well if it were shorter, but the length didn't really bother me, just like The Dark Knight's length didn't.

The audio got a 5 star rating on BD. Did you watch this on BD? The uncompressed track was excellent, though there were some times where it jumped from soft to loud very quickly. That is not due to a poorly done track, just a choice the director made. It isn't one of the best movies I've ever seen, but it was very entertaining and very well done.

Just got this on BD from netflix today, not having read the book, it wasn't at all what I was expecting, but I still enjoyed it. My gf was sleeping so I had my headphones on for this one. This sounded great through my Sennheiser 485's, yeah some parts were quiet, but they weren't muffled like in some movies. It started off slow, but once you get into the characters it moves right along. Even if I hadn't liked the story I would have stuck out the 3 hours for the ear and eye candy, this one's a winner.
