I currently own a Pioneer Elite VSX 04
I like the power it gives to my speakers. I have fairly large speakers and the power it gives them is great and also sounds great too. The reason i a want to change because of poor surround sound with this receiver. A couple months ago I bought a receiver before it was 100 w a channel too but it sounded bad. I am look for a receiver that will power speakers the same as my pioneer elite did but with surround sound (dts, ac3 Etc). I want to spend around 700 to 900 canadian so thats around 500 to 600 american i would think.
Ive been looking at these models Harman/Kardon AVR230, Sony STR-DE995 , Denon AVR1804 and the Onkyo TX SR601.
I wanted to know which receiver would put out the most power to speakers and maintain good sound quality.

I would like to thank everybody ahead of time for answering this question, so thanks and have a good day

While each of these brands is very nice (except the Sony in my opinion) I think Marantz will get you the most bang for your buck in this price range, especially if you listen to a lot of music. Check out the SR6400 and SR5400. The HK may be just slightly underpowered...the 330 would take care of that. Listen and look at the options. They're all great choices
