Hi All, I just got situated with my HT setup with Aperion 5T's and an Outlaw 1EX.
I am running it on Yamaha RX-V665 receiver and am ALWAYS happy with Yamaha's detail on the sound. I am moving another HT setup with Energy Micro's to my bedroom so this yammy goes there.

Aperion designers married them with Marantz stating they sound well together. I am not sure about Marantz reliability and also the setup looks on their receivers. I have auditioned Marantz and find them less detailed, more bassy like the Denon's.

I want to stick to Yammy's...

So folks any recommendations or anyone used the AVENTAGE line lately. Budget $750.

I like Yamaha's build quality, their QA, and their great customer support. I would look at the features that are most important to you and then select on them to see if it fits within your budget. When my current Yammie dies, I will be going to the Adventage class if its still around in 20 years :)

"Bassy" isn't a function of the receiver; that is setup. Marantz reliability is just as good as Yamaha, as is Denon, and while I like Yamaha, I'd pick Denon or Marantz over them; but that's just me. If anything, Denon and Yamaha are actually the most neutral or flat sounding to me, while Marantz has a bit more "color" to it and that tends to sound good with music. For movies, they all sound the same to me. Though the receiver does influence the sound somewhat (implementation, their EQ methodology, etc...), your speakers and the proper setup of them have a FAR more significant impact on the sound of your system.

Can you elaborate on the setup of each that gave you the impression that one receiver was colored over the others? If the Marantz is colored, I would find that a bad thing as a neutral system allows one to more easily tailor the sound to their preference over something that is skewed towards another sound. :)

I haven't tried any of the newer Audessey equiped Marantz units and heard them with it on/off, but all of my previous Marantz units had what I would characterize as a "warm" sound to them, which I suppose could be defined as a more pronounced lower midrange and slightly softer highs. When I had these units, I also had generally brighter speakers (Paradigm) so it sort of tames the speaker and creates a pleasant sound for music. So not colored in a bad way, I guess is the way to explain it.
