Want to install audio on front & back porch...

Hi. My wife and I are about to begin building our 1st home.

I would like to install several speakers on my front porch as well as the back porch.

Ideally, I would like to be able to play music from:

  • the radio we'll have on our entertainment center in the living room
  • my desktop PC
  • maybe even my wife's laptop

The Questions I have...
  • Would we need to run wiring to all of the speakers from where we plan on putting the entertainment center?
  • Is there some sort of wireless system now that maybe uses Bluetooth where you don't have to run wires to the speakers and can operate from your desktop and/or laptop?

Any and all info is appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hi Matt,

Welcome to the forum.

I would go with a wired system. Wireless works great for you internet but for speakers.....not so much. Remember that if you did use wireless speakers they would need a power supply to run their internal amplifier so they would still need wire just not the speaker variety.

Do you want to run all of this from your main system or do you want a separate whole house system that is just for this purpose? Many can still recievers off zone 2 & zone 3 support that share sources with your main system but power these zones with different sources.

What is your budget?

I have been known to run a few zones off of one AVR.

Highlander is a great resource for this project.
