Hey guys I'm looking for a receiver on the cheap. Under $100 would be great!! I would like a 5 channel reciever, I'm not too particular on the brand. Thanks a lot guys.

I would suggest looking for older Pioneer models on Ebay. There are quite a few Dolby Digital receivers from Pioneer in the 90's that are often seen on Ebay. They usually have respectable power, and are pretty good bargains.

You might also look at B-stock receivers and refurbs.

Thanks man, I was just wondering if anyone here had anything they wanted to get rig of, I have had pretty good luck getting computer parts and stuff on other forums. Tends to be a little less, cutthroat. :)

It's not very powerful but the Pioneer doesn't look too bad. I'd be leery of the other one from the auction site ("The owner assures us it works" doesn't inspire much confidence!). Otherwise I know a guy selling a couple of Panasonic rec's at AudioCircle, the ones with the digital amps that were so in vogue a couple years ago. Seems like he's asking $125 each, and they're well worth the money.

I'd say getting one off eBay is fine so long as you watch the sellers feedback carefully. I've had pretty good luck with eBay and Audiogon.

Thanks a heap Rob. I'll check audiogon. I don't need heaps of power, this syetem is for my father (for fathers day). But I would like half way decent processing and 1 or 2 sets of HD video inputs. I would sacrifice watts for features/price. But again let me know if you guys come across anything really sweet, like under $100 total cost. Help a vet out (me) on Memorial Day. :)

Look for Sherwood receivers on Ebay or B-Stock, the newer ones have component video switching and soon they should have some reasonably priced HDMI switching models.

He is looking to get one for under $100

I can get ahold of a decent Denon for about $140 at a pawn shop, but I won't do anything unless I am certain you want it. I can go find it and get the Model # and other details about it if you would like to know more about it.

Hey guys thanks all for the replies. I actually found a screaming deal on ebay. I got a Pioneer VSX-815-K for $81. :) It comes in Tuesday.

Now I just have to find a sub on the real cheap and I'll be set to go. How much have you guys seen those Cadence xsubs go for?
