I went to watch this with my dad today, who liked the original.
The acting is great. Shia Beolifsadfas (whatever - from Transformers) was believable, the girl from "An Education" (Highly recommended) was great, and so was Michael Douglas...and, well, the whole cast.
However, the writing and directing is where it falls short. The characters simply don't stay true to their realistic nature. Any building of a character is seemingly for nothing, because their actions don't match the people they are made out to be.
To me, this movie should have been more like Crash, only with money rather than race. The interesting aspects of the movie were not the cheese storylines they came up with, but rather how the economy and future economy affects real lives.
Worth a rental, probably not worth a ticket.
