You have come to the right place, as thanks to my wife I already spent long hours of on-wall comparison shopping. I ended up doing it my way, and going with floorstanders.
Monitor Audio R225 is a great on-wall speaker, probably the best in its price range, and offered in beautiful finishes. Paradigm Cinema 330 gives a good run for the money, and maybe even better for movies, but MA offers a good balance between movies and music. You will be tempted to get Paradigm Millenia 20 or 30, compare them well to the Cinema 330, and you will probably notice that paying more for the Millenias is not a good choice, as the 330 is very similar in SQ.
Check Energy's Take Series, Def Tech, and Klipsch RVX-42. But, IMO, they don't get close to the Monitor or Paradigm. But, check them out, everyone's ears are different.
But, you have $3K to spend...You are in luck, once you hear Vienna Acoutics on-walls you will want to spend the $3,500.00 that a 5 speaker set costs; you might get a deal and get close to your $3K. These are beautiful sounding speakers, excellent for on-walls.
And, if you want to stay within budget, then check on-wall offerings by Martin Logan, a 5-speaker set runs $3K. This is the closest you will find to the Vienna's.
I believe Totem also has a very good on-wall, but have not been able to audition.
