wall mount display height

Hello to all-I am shopping for a flat panel LCD & wanted to ask:how high on the wall should I think about placing it?
My seating area is ~13 feet away on a normal height couch.
Are there certain rules of thumb that should be followed for the viewing degree of incline from the seating area to the screen?
I'm trying to understand if I need to duplicate the viewing angle as I would experience as if i was sitting in a movie theater.
My current display sits on a 17" high stand.
Any thoughts, ideas or comments would be very welcome!
Thank You!

I wouldn't mount it higher than the bottom at eye level. Try the center at eye level and see.

If you have a whole open wall, and no fireplace, furniture, etc to worry about then do the sofa test. Sit in the sofa; see what position is comfortable for your head. To high and you are always looking up. To low...... you see what I am getting at?

A good rule of thumb that I use it the light switch height. I think that if the bottom 1/4 of the TV or bottom 1/3 of the TV is the same as the light switches on the wall, that is normally a good position to do it.

Most electricians use around 54 inches for the light switches.

But that is just my advice. Good Luck!
