I'm a total newbie and hoping for a few answers. We just replaced a 16 year old Sony rear projection unit that gave us many years of great picture. We now have a Sony Bravia 46 S4100 and a Sony Bravia DAV-HDX277WC. We have a question about the volume on the home theater system. Its maxes out at 33 which is loud enough for me, but my husband disagrees. I've checked the included volume limit setting and it is at "off". There is also a night setting which limits volume and its off. There are several surround sound modes and I've tried all of them with the same volume limit.
I'm wondering if this is a cabling issue (would the receiver limit the available volume due to the cable used?) Which brings me to the next question. I am a AT&T Uverse user with a set top box. The diagram that came with the HTIB states the ST box should be connected to the tv directly and the receiver should be connected directly to the tv. That seems odd. It seems like the ST Box should go through the receiver? We connected the ST Box to the tv with component cables because the picture quality was terrible when we connected the box via HDMI (a known uverse issue with its boxes). We connected the receiver to the tv using HDMI. We are using a digital optical audio cable between receiver and tv. The picture quality is awesome and the sound is wonderful. The limited volume seems to be our only real issue at this point. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
