Volume fluctuates with selector.

Let me preface this with "I know nothing about AV systems."

I recently installed a 5 sets of speakers in my house and put in a speaker selector. The receiever I'm using is a Sony, STR-D1015 and the selector is a JEC TC-905 Distribution Center. I have the 4 inputs wired at the moment, a pair of Bose, an outdoor rock pair, another pair of Bose, and the house intercom system.

The problem is that when I turn it all on, the volume fluctuates quite a bit. It will be at a good volume and then get lounder and then softer. Definitely not the music I was playing. Any suggstions on what the problem is and what a good solution would be? Do I need a different speaker selector?

Thanks!

The first thing I can think of, check to make sure your JEC distribution center / selector is impedance matching.
If it's not, you're driving too many speakers, and need a different selector.

I'm no expert, especially on the Sony units. But I expect with all the speakers being driven at the same time, the receiver is struggling to put out the power necessary to drive all the speakers.

Also, are the speakers all the same ohm rating or is there a mix?

Hopefully others will chime in with more questions that can help drive to the issue.
