Volts, amp draw on Home Elec

Don't have a large 2.1 audio set up but I do listen at louder volumes sometimes. In my new home and finally got it all set. New home to me, but it was built 1981. Was listning yesterday and all of a sudden my lights flickered and heard a loud screech and my CD player turned off. Amp, preamp, DAC, sub were all still on. I turned the CD player back on and had another go. All seemed fine for another half hour.
Any thoughts? Maybe just maybe it was something else that caused this as I am hoping.
On my Belkin surge protector all is running around 117.8 volts and the amps are ranging from .7 to 1.5.
Do these volts and amps look normal for the house? Thanks

At the time I was running an Emotiva ERC-3 CD player. Emotiva XSP-1 gen 2 preamp and my ATI Amp.
ML Grotto sub.

Your equipment would not cause a fuse to blow or a circuit breaker to trip considering a regular house circuit is rated for 120V AC and a 15 amp fuse/circuit breaker. Your CD player is definately having problems as I see it.

It was strange that all the equipment was on except the CD player.. But something caused the lights to flicker in the house at the same time.

My guess is that you have had a momentary voltage dip that was low enough and for long enough time to cause the CD player's relay to drop out but not enough for the preamp and power amp to do the same.

You can contact your local utility and ask if they registered any voltage dip at that time. Depending on the nature of the issue they may or may not be able to tell you.

Sounds like there may be other things on that circuit.
With that breaker off, check what other outlets go out.
It'll be a process of elimination with stuff like this.
Could be anything, from a previous Home Owner doing his own electrical work and circuit is overloaded, to a loose neutral in the panel.
Would be interesting to see the voltage drop just as incident happened.

Switched up my gear last night and had no issues at all for over an hour. Will try the original gear again tonight and see how it goes.
