I've taken apart a Jambox by Jawbone; they are using a 36 AWG Copper voice coil (0.127 mm diameter) wound on a kapton former. I believe their drivers are at 4 ohm each. They are also using a 25 mm diameter aluminum diaphragm and a high rare earth magnet (17.3 mm diameter x 3.9 mm)

My question is, what exactly determines voice coil length and diameter? I'm playing around with different materials; one of them has an electrical resistivity of 1 microOhm / cm. How do I calculate the voice coil length and diameter, as well as how many turns I need to wind it? Would it make sense pegging something with such a low resistivity to 4 ohms / would the overall impedance of the system be lowered?

Thanks
