I know, terrible thread title. I couldn't be bothered to think hard about it.

Even though Vizio is no high fidelity audio manufacturer it is amusing to see them basically slap down certain mass market drivel.

Really all that matters is that they said "Watts don't matter."

In a sense they have a point. Few people understand how little power they actually dissipate in a home audio system, particularly one that employs a powered subwoofer. I've always said that amplifier power is one of the least important aspects of home audio.

I like their flash tools that allow you to interact with them. When you use the wattage gauge the "0" just keeps getting bigger as the wattage goes up.

Watts Don’t Matter.
The number of watts an audio system uses has no impact on audio loudness or clarity, only on the power being used.
This is of course gross oversimplification, but do have a point:

a) Just like the Megaherz wars in computer space or more recent quantity of cores - Simply stating power capabilities without knowing how it was measured is useless
b) Only few dBs in Speakers sensitivity will have greater effect in loudness than extra 50 Watts of amp power
c) and neither of these has of course any effect on clarity

I could go on :)

As far as soundbars go, they don't do much for me. If I had no other option I would consider Vizio's offerings, they seem to offer the best bang for buck in this particular niche market.
