Virgin Could Return to Video Games

Richard Branson himself may appear at E3 to make the announcement.
By Steve Watts, 05/20/2010

One of the most celebrated, but dormant, game publishers may be seeing a return to the business, reports MCV. Virgin Interactive, which had its assets sold to Titus Software in 1999, could use E3 as a launching point for restarting the business. Virgin as a whole has still been going strong, and founder Sir Richard Branson is consistently listed as one of the richest men in the world. Rumor has it he may show up at E3 personally to announce the brand's return to video game publishing. The new Virgin Interactive is also said to focus on digitally-delivered content, rather than packaged goods.

Virgin Interactive published some renowned titles, particularly in the 90s. Some of their games include the popular Disney tie-ins like The Lion King, along with other licensed games like Cool Spot, and European releases of PC games like Doom 2. The company certainly has the money to back up a reentry to the business, so we'll see at E3 if this rumor pans out.
