I've seen some pretty top-end speakers happily flaunting the inclusion of Vifa drivers in their systems. I've even been to the Vifa website and looked over their systems (amps, speakers, etc.). But I'm still unclear. Can someone explain specifically what it is about these drivers that has those expensive speaker makers drooling over them? Thanks.

I don't know. Personally, I would go with scan-speak :)

Isn't there a vifa ring tweeter in the onix rocket speakers?

It's just a well established OEM supplier with solid products. But nothing inherantly special. One can spec any design and have it manufactured in the far east for a lower cost. I would refer as an example, the Dayton Reference drivers from Parts Express, which perform at the same level as the world's best drivers, but at low-end driver prices. Of course, these Dayton Reference drivers are manufactured in the east. :)

Vifa is one of the lines owned by DST (Danish Sound Technology). I think it's their middle of the range brand, with scan-speak being their top of the line models. They also produce the Peerless and Logic brands.

Scan-speak and Seas are some of the best drivers I've heard. The Vifa ring radiator tweeters can be found on the Rockets as well as the Polk LSis. I've owned the LSis and I can say it is one excellent tweeter. It's very natural and smooth sounding and fairly well dispersed.

I know the different grades of the Vifa Ring radiator drivers are made in different areas, some China and some Europe I believe. So saying you have a Vifa just means you have a driver from a reputable company.

I think Scan Speak and Seas manufacture strickly in Europe.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

No matter what kind of driver you have, the implementation of the driver is just as or even more so important.
