Just wanted to know how far my Boston Acoustic CR 65 bookshelf speakers should be from my 36" CRT to avoid any magnetic disturbances. My Sony Wega is inside an entertainment wall unit, I had planed on putting the CR 65
speakers on either side of the tv as my front speakers, in the adjacent shelf sections. That's when I realized the speakers are without the BA Magnaguard system that's in the CR 67 speakers...that explains why the CR 65's are now half price for the pair.
I don't want to return them if I don't have to. The CR 67 speakers have the Magna Guard but they're nearly $350 a pair where I paid $97 for the CR 65's.

Are these not shielded speakers? You should be fine with a couple of feet.

The CR65s Are Shielded...

The CR65's also have the 'MagnaGuard' feature. Here's the link directly from BA's site on the CR65s along with one of the bullet points from the CR65s information:

  • MagnaGuard® magnetic shielding prevents video interference (see Technology)

You should be good to go...;) -TD

Aaah - oops! Okay, my oversight!....LOL...my oversight! You're right - these CR 65's do have the Magna Guard.
Okay then I'm set......honestly though I was thinking "oh my God, I can't use these" . . . . I was was buggin - guess I was trying to find a reason to go out and over extend my credit and pick up some Axiom M3's.....I hear they are top of the line in my budget. But I love the way the BA's sound. Thanks!

NP, these are nice speakers for the money. The M3s are more capable, but they also have a much larger footprint and price. I have a pair of CR65s in my secondary setup (small/mid-sized living room) as mains and I have some M3s in my main setup as rear surrounds.

Both speakers mentioned are solid performers for the money IMO, so whatever you can afford, I don't think you'll be too disappointed.

Have fun! -TD
