Trying to assess a problem with video output to a Toshiba DVD player that has never been a problem in the past. The Yamaha is about 4 yrs. old and gets continual use (whenever the TV is turned on). Two days ago we tried to play a movie in a Toshiba DVD player and got sound, but no picture. This has never happened before and we had just watched a movie the previous night without incident. I have tried to troubleshoot as follows: Changed out the CD several times.. Changed out the DVD player to a brand new unit.... Changed out the component cables with new cables... Switched the component cables to different video outputs. Still no video through the DVD player, although the TV/Cable is working fine. Is the receiver video output fried?? Or am I missing something? Thanks for any advice.

I bet this is a resolution miss match.
Your DVD player is 480i, so the receiver has to up convert it to the resolution of your TV.
Make sure the up resolution in your receiver is turned on and the the resolution from the output of your receiver matches that of the TV.
I had a similar issue last week, in that I had no picture from my BD player, but sound.
It turned out that the BD player had changed its output resolution all by itself.
Since you are having this problem with two different DVD players, I would bet this is the issue.
