Video inputs on receiver

I have an Onkyo TX-SR503 and it has components inputs on the back of my receiver and I'm wondering how I can make video come through using my receiver. Do I have to put a composite (yellow) or an s-video at the monitor out and the TV? So then I just hook the video from the DVD player to the receiver then? Can somebody help me out?

Ideally, you would connect your sources to the receiver with component input and use component output to the TV. That will give you your best video quality. I don't know if that receiver will downconvert component to s-video or composite. It is unlikely that it would.

Alright, to make myself more clearer and so everybody can understand me better I'll ask a different way. On my receiver I've got component video inputs. I've got a pretty good understanding of why they're there but I wanna know how I use them properly.
