Very low center channel audio from receiver

I have a HD cable box connected to my receiver via HDMI and HDMI out from receiver to TV. When audio comes from receiver it is very low almost muted (This is only from the center channel.) If I switch audio to the TV there is a drastic increase in audio(dialogue) volume.

I’ve tried many different configurations with no significant increase to dialogue audio from center channel. I almost have to max out volume to get dialogue at a level that I don’t have to strain to hear.

I have a blue ray player connected via HDMI to receiver and it is not much better from center, but is better than the TV/cable box. Any ideas what’s going on or what I need to change?

Receiver: Yamaha RX-V3900
Cable Box: Pace TDC 775D (HD)
Speakers: Destination Audio
TV: Panasonic 55” Plasma

Many Thanks….

You need to go to your speaker set up menu and balance the channel levels properly, preferably using a sound level meter in conjuction with the test tones you can turn on in the set up menu.

I agree , i had a similar problem with dolby digital encoded channels from my paytv, had the center channel level too low in relation to others.
