Venting: how do I get this entire section of the forum not to show for me?

Can I hide the Steam Vent from my "Recent Posts" or "New Posts" shortcuts? ;p

S'up dre? That's probably not possible but if you block me and a couple of other like minded idiots who do nothing but post in the Steam Vent ... taa daa! Objective accomplished! No hard feelings though.

That last part was for Adam. :)

Really, I just want the thread about Paris to be gone from my feed (I'm french, from Paris and while I thankfully was not directly affected by the attacks, the thread, while well intentioned has accumulated a lot of hatred and bigotry and it saddens me each time I see it). But eh… maybe I can just train my brain to block it out. ;)

I agree. If we can mark a forum to "watch", why not mark one to "unwatch"?

The title of that thread is exactly what kept me from opening it.

I just didn't see what I could gain or add of value to such a discussion.

I would add that this is also not what I come to AH for. ;)

to be honest, nobody is forcing you to open and read it.

Don't read it or participate.
That's what I do whenever a thread about Liver and Onions gets posted.
I also have no interest in projectors or screens, I avoid that thread too.

I agree with the recommendations to just ignore it. I haven't opened that thread in a while, and I didn't read many posts when I did open it. It was clear that it evolved (devolved?) into personal opinions and political aspects and was no longer at all about paying tribute to the victims and heroes of the incidents.

I hear you and I do that just fine with a LOT of threads which I'm not interested by, that one hurts a bit every time I see it (and not in a cute 'I wish my setup was that good' kind of way), that's why I was genuinely curious to see if there was a way to mute a thread.

Yes, It's called report it to AH Mods like site mod @Matt34 to lock it for violating forums rules (No politics)

I can feel for you. I witnessed, up close and in person, the collapse of the second WTC tower where 2,700 people died on 9/11/01. I don't have any problems with reading about it. It helps me vent my anger and it's kinda comforting to see others with similar feelings.

But, if it really bothers you that much, simply don't open the damned thread.

Eh, I did notice that the sticky thread on the steam vent said no politics or religion.

But, if it really bothers you that much, simply don't open the damned thread.
Thank you for the thoughts. I am not opening the damned thread, like I said, I was just curious to see if I could mute it, after all, as AJM mentioned, one can "watch" a thread, "hiding" a thread isn't that far fetched.

Cheers.

I'll bet you'd get actual results, or at least a substantive answer, if you posted your question in:
