Ventilation Question

Hey, guys

I have a quick ventilation question. I recently purchased a Studiotech HF-4 rack and went ahead and ponied up for 11-inch poles for the shelf that will hold my receiver. My Yamaha RX-V663 is about 7 inches tall. Therefore, I should have about 4 inches of space above the receiver, as well as four open sides around it. Is that enough?

My manual says the receiver needs 12 inches of space above, but online I've seen people say that 4 should be enough. Also, most of the discussions involve closed racks rather than totally open ones like this.

So what do you guys think? Is 4 inches of clearance in a totally open rack enough?

Thanks so much!

Hi SopRage, I can offer a few thoughts.
I always keep my amp and/or receivers as low in the rack as possible; the air is coolest down low.
If you're concerned about ventilation. I have a flat pancake / computer fan on top of all my heat producing equipment. It pulls air up and out.
Hope this helps.

If it's open on the sides and back the 4" on top should work just fine.
