only use that is you MUST. the Low level inputs allow you to use your Receiver's bass management.

To my understanding, typically there is not an advantage in running your speaker wires in and out of your sub unless you need extremely fine tuned 'sub to speaker' integration that a typical receiver doesn't offer.

What type of receiver is this setup with? If you have a typical home theater receiver then make sure you have the front speakers set to large and the receiver crossover set to the ability of your next largest speakers. The vx-10 has a built in crossover that you should adjust (according to your tastes and performance of your bookshelf speakers) to probably something near 100 Hz.

I agree with Sheepstar that if you can use your receivers bass management then do that, plus it's much easier running one cable to your sub vs. 2 in and 2 out for your speaker level inputs and outputs.

You should only use this option if your receiver doesn't have either preamp outputs or a sub/LFE output.

IOW, this is a great way to incorporate a sub into sn older system that has no other option.

I do have an LFE output built into the reciever.I have mine set to -3 .Sound ok.It is an older system.Im just trying to get the most out of what I have.Even though its not the greatest,I just want to do it correctly.

does your receiver have cross-over settings? What exactly is set to -3? You should hook up the sub using your sub pre-out and then play the pink noise until the volume of your sub sounds the same as your bookshelves. Do you still have the manual for your reciever? Manuals can do wonders.
