Am in the market for a new sub. Both of these seem to look great (feature wise )and about the same $$$. Viewing area is closed on 3 sides, will be 20' from TV..

2nd post.......

Any input on which is better?? Or other suggestions?

Thanks!!

Thanks!

Thank you! While I read here that it was the product of the year, is there anything else I should be considering??

I would also consider a similarly priced option from Hsu or SVS. Velodyne makes nice stuff, but there's absolutely no way that lil 8" sub is going to compete with a beefy 12".

Great! The EP600 is a bit of a stretch dollar wise, and I'll look into the others.

Does the fact that there is carpeting on the floor make a difference?

Depends.

With carpet, your going to want spikes. It will decouple it(sub) from the floor and tighten up the low end response.

If the sub your looking at (not EP500) is down firing, and doesn't have a bass plate (piece of wood between woofers and floor) your going to want to make sure theres plenty of room for driver to breath (and ports if they fire down).

Hope this helps.
