velodyne impact10 vs HSUresearch STF-1

So I am helping my buddy with trying to do some upgrades to his tv room. He wants a subwoofer but wont spend more than $299. At this price point i coukd only find the velodyne impact 10 and the hsuresearch STF-1.

So far leaning towards the velodyne as its cheaper (only by $30) and that makes him happy. Also since its sealed it will give decent output. I have tried explaining to him that in this field you get what you pay for but this fact seems to elude him.

So just looking for opinions on these two or if there is something else out there at this price range I didnt know about.

Sealed gives less output than a comparable vented sub.

Looking at the specs for both, they seem fairly similar, both being -3dB @ 32Hz and the same RMS power. Neither is going to dig deep, but in this case, the HSU being vented may be a benefit in terms of output.
